About the book
The modern world needs managers who recognize that they act in a global market, where diversity is the norm. Too many corporate managers hide behind the rules and policies of the companies they work for in the name of political correctness, and opt for an “all-is-business” approach, which doesn’t recognize that people are different. The key to ensuring team and business success is making the most of people’s individual strengths. At times managers need to overlook the rules altogether and operate off-book.
The Unorthodox Manager introduces a wide-ranging managerial approach that will arm readers with outside-the-box principles that enable “boots on the ground” managers to build their own best methods given any circumstances, rather than strictly following corporate policies. Through a rich professional history filled with an abundance of personal stories and lessons, Dan Clein shares the secrets of managing modern multicultural teams that get things done. The Unorthodox Manager is inspiration for Human Resource departments, encouraging them to work closely with front line managers across varying countries and environments, and build policies that reflect the realities of time, location, and culture. A modern approach that will help companies choose the right people for management positions; managers who care about their people and company’s long term success over short-sighted business incentives. |
THE UNORTHODOX MANAGER takes its readers on a journey through the challenges, opportunities and lessons learned while developing a world class organization. |
I was told not to hire Dan because while “knowing his stuff, he would ruffle a lot of feathers!” I didn’t realize when ignoring this advice, the feathers he’d be ruffling would be mostly mine! |
